The Samsung Galaxy S8 In Review

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is still a prevalent handset in the mobile market despite more recent releases from Samsung including the Galaxy S9 and Note9 in their most recent handset launch. But with these and other newer handsets now available, is the Samsung Galaxy S8 still worth purchasing?

Design
If you’re looking at choosing your new phone from a design perspective, nothing is quite like the S8 design. Lightweight, curved all-screen and incredibly slim, the phone still holds all the features of any other phone including the MicroSD slot, wireless charging and IP rating to ensure dust and water resistance. Unlike many new handsets, the S8 also still boasts a headphone jack – where the AKG headphones that come with the phone can be used, or any other standard headset for that matter.

Camera
Now, granted there are mobile phones on the market that possess higher spec cameras however, the Galaxy S8 still comes with a strong camera which is of excellent quality for many ‘point and shooters’. The camera uses auto focus to quickly lock down on the photo subject and captures high quality images. Night time shooting is not a problem as the camera is great at picking up details on the Dual 12MP rear facing camera.

Security
With regards to handset security, fingerprint recognition still comes as standard although the location of the reader has been moved, rather inconveniently next to the camera lens so you run a large risk of getting fingerprints on your camera lens. You also have the option of facial recognition too as well as iris scanner.

Battery
Battery performance for the S8 admittedly, could be better, especially when compared to other phones on the market which are now designed to last for longer. However it does offer fast charging which may compensate for this, taking the battery from 0% to 37% in just half an hour.

Obviously there are many more features of the S8 that you may want to take into consideration. It has a few negative points that will be drawbacks for some purchasers however overall, this handset is definitely still a contender in our eyes. It’s modern, affordable and in high demand despite being released over a year ago now. Take a look at our deals and decide for yourself whether the Samsung Galaxy S8 is the next phone for you.
